Unlimited Visualization in Real Time

3DInteractive has developed visibility-guided rendering technology, a new output-sensitive approach that enables real time visualization of even the most massive data sets. Render performance is essentially independent of the data volume.
Visibility-guided rendering (VGR) is a new algorithmic approach to visualization that only sends potentially visible portions of a large 3D model database to the graphics hardware. The vast majority of objects in the database can be omitted from rendering. Combined with modern graphics card technology, featuring powerful programmable hardware shaders, even photo-realistic illumination effects can be rendered on a standard single processor PC or laptop.

Visually interacting with CAD models and assemblies (for instance to inspect and resolve interference problems) has become a standard procedure in design, reducing planning time and cost. However, the data explosion observed in digital design thus far has made it necessary to reduce model complexity, e.g. through mesh reduction, or manual interaction. Such tasks often had to be outsourced to external engineering service firms, incurring large costs per model and long wait times. Moreover, data quality suffered significantly. Unfortunately, the data volume keeps growing at more than twice the rate of hardware performance (governed by Moore's law), therefore no relief from faster hardware could be expected.
The visibility-guided rendering technology of Interviews3D makes it possible to directly visualize over a thousand times larger data volumes than before in real time with no loss of quality. - This is the answer to the data explosion challenge!

Unrivalled performance

Interviews3D / VGR rendering performance is unparalleled. Unlike competing navigators, Interviews3D is not limited by the total number of objects or details in the database. Costly data reduction is no longer necessary.

Key features:

  • Real-time interactive navigation through large-scale models and assemblies of over one billion polygons (over 40 GB of data) with Visibility-guided Rendering and out-of-core caching strategies
  • Interactive editing of extremely large-scale models (several million objects)
  • Runs on standard 32-bit PCs and laptops
  • Scales to 64-bit architecture, PC clusters, multi CPU / multi GPU servers (e.g. for ultra high resolution displays)
  • Software development kit and API available for systems integration

Key benefits:

  • Quality improvement: fully detailed models can be visualized in real time
  • Meets today's engineering and styling needs
  • No model data reduction required
  • Shortened development and review cycles
  • In-house handling of large model visualization projects - No external service necessary for design reviews
  • Significantly reduced planning and development cost
  • OEMs and in-house systems developers can benefit from licensing 3DInteractive's VGR SDK for integration in their proprietary systems and processes
